Privacy Policy

Effective date: October 3, 2026 Applies to: the Kudent app (Android and iOS)

Kudent is an educational app for preparatory and secondary school students in Egypt, and for the tutors who teach them. This policy explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.

01 Who we are

Kudent helps students log their results and study habits, practise with quizzes, see an estimate of their final result, find weak chapters, compete in quiz duels, and connect with tutors. Tutors use it to manage their students, groups, assignments and class challenges.

Kudent is built and run by an independent developer in Egypt, not a large company. You can reach us at khaled@oojway.com. Kudent is purely educational: it has no chat or private messaging, and no advertising.

02 What we collect

We collect only what the features you use need. Almost all of it is something you type, choose or upload yourself.

  • Account: your name, email address, password (handled by Firebase Authentication; we never see it in plain text) and mobile phone number, which is verified by SMS when you sign up.
  • Profile: account type (student, tutor, both, or parent), school year and section, and, if you choose to give them, birth date, gender, school name and type, city and country, study conditions (for example a quiet place to study), learning style, a profile photo, and a short bio and activities for your Kudent CV.
  • Learning data: exam, quiz and homework scores; official final results; study time and class attendance you log; practice-quiz answers and response times; finished chapters; goals and target grade; notes you write; your private-lesson schedule and attendance.
  • Check-ins: your answers to the optional personality questionnaire and reasoning check-in, and the career or field targets you pick.
  • Competition: duel and challenge scores, ranks, achievements, and who you played.
  • Tutoring: for students, your requests, subscriptions, groups, attendance and payment status (payments happen outside the app; we only record "paid" / "received"). For tutors, your public tutor profile (subjects, price, city, availability, optional contact phone, payment instructions you choose to show to subscribed students), materials, questions and PDFs you upload, assignments, challenges and the marks you enter.
  • Social: who you follow and who follows you, blocks, and reports you send.
  • Parent links: if you use a parent account or invite a parent: which parent and student accounts are linked, the link's status (waiting, approved, declined or stopped), and the one-time invite code used to connect them.
  • Photos and files: a profile photo if you add one; exam papers (photos or PDFs) you choose to save, which are kept for you under My exams until you delete them or your account; PDFs and materials tutors upload.
  • Approximate location: only if you allow it, once, to fill in your city and country. We keep the city and country names, not your coordinates. You can type them instead.
  • Device data: a notification token so we can send you notifications, the app language for those notifications, and an app-integrity check (Google Play Integrity or Apple App Attest) that helps block fake requests. If the app crashes, a crash report: what went wrong in the app's code, your device model and system version, the app version, and your account ID (not your name or email).
We do not collect payment card details, national ID numbers, contacts, precise location or biometric data, and we have no advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.

03 How we use it

  • To run the app: your dashboard, averages, weak chapters, study hints, practice quizzes, the final-result estimate and its explanation, field suggestions, duels, leaderboards, and tutor tools.
  • Automatic analysis: our servers look at learning and attendance data to produce hints for students and insights for their tutors (for example "Chapter 3 needs work" or "missed two sessions in a row"). These are suggestions only; nothing automatic decides anything with legal or similar effect on you.
  • Notifications: reminders, new challenges, duel results, tutor requests and similar. You can turn them off in your phone's settings.
  • Safety: to review reports, hide reported content and restrict accounts that misuse the app.
  • Improving the estimate (only with your consent): if you agree when saving an official final result, we store that result with the numbers the estimate used, without your name or account, and use these anonymous samples to retrain the estimate.
  • Account security and support: signing you in, verifying your phone and email, and answering your messages.

We do not sell your data, use it for advertising, or build marketing profiles.

05 Service providers

We use these providers to run Kudent. They process data on our behalf and under their own terms:

  • Google Firebase / Google Cloud: sign-in, SMS and email verification, database, file storage, server functions, notifications, app-integrity checks, crash reports (Firebase Crashlytics) and website hosting.
  • Google Gemini (through Firebase AI Logic): reads exam papers you choose to save so the app can fill in your scores, and drafts quiz questions when a tutor asks it to. The photo is sent as it is, so avoid photographing personal details you don't want processed. If you leave “Add its questions to the question bank” on, Google Gemini on Google Cloud Vertex AI also copies the paper's printed multiple-choice questions; only the printed questions are kept, checked, and added to the shared bank without your name, handwriting or marks.
  • Your phone's operating system: turns an approximate location into a city name (Google on Android, Apple on iOS).
  • Google Analytics (website only): if you click "Allow" on oojway.com, the site uses Google Analytics cookies to count visits: pages viewed, approximate country, device type and which site or post brought you there. Nothing is collected if you decline, and the app itself does not use Google Analytics.

We may disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect users' safety or our rights.

06 Where data is stored

Data is stored on Google Cloud servers, which may be outside Egypt (for example in the United States). A copy of your own data is also kept on your phone so the app works offline; it is cleared when you log out.

07 Security

Data travels encrypted (HTTPS/TLS). Database rules limit each kind of data to the people listed in section 4; for example, only you can read your full learning record. No system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information.

08 Students under 18 & parents

Kudent is made for preparatory and secondary students, so many users are under 18. If you are under 18, use Kudent with your parent's or guardian's knowledge and permission. When a student under 18 signs up, they confirm that a parent or guardian agrees.

To keep students safe, Kudent has no chat or private messaging, no ads, and no public posting. Following someone needs their approval and shows only a progress summary. Anyone can block or report another account.

Parent accounts. A parent can follow their child in Kudent with a parent account. The student, or their tutor, gives the parent a one-time code that works for 7 days. Nothing is shared until the student approves the request in the app. The student can stop sharing at any time (Profile, then Parents), and the parent loses access straight away. A parent account cannot change the student's data.

Parents and guardians can ask us to see, correct or delete their child's data by writing to khaled@oojway.com.

09 Your rights & choices

  • See and correct: almost everything we hold is visible and editable in the app. Ask us for anything else.
  • Delete your account: Profile → Delete account, or use delete-account.oojway.com.
  • Stop sharing finals anonymously: turn off "Share final results anonymously" in Profile; what you shared is deleted.
  • Location, camera and notifications: all optional; you can refuse or turn them off in your phone settings.
  • Followers: accept or remove followers, and block accounts, at any time.

Where Egypt's Personal Data Protection Law (Law No. 151 of 2020) or other laws apply, you have the rights they give you. Contact us to use them.

10 How long we keep data

We keep your data while your account exists, so your progress carries across school years. When you delete your account we delete your profile, learning data, public profile, follows, blocks, tutor listing and groups, questions and challenges you created, your challenge entries, duel links, parent links and invite codes (and the copy of your attendance and marks kept for linked parents), the photos and files you uploaded, and anything you shared anonymously; active subscriptions are ended.

Some records that also belong to someone else can remain: past duels (your name and score as the other player saw them), a tutor's records of your sessions, payments and assignment marks with them, past challenge boards, reviews you left on a tutor's profile, and reports you sent about other accounts. Anonymous estimate samples you did not withdraw are deleted with your account.

11 Changes to this policy

If we change how data is handled, we update the date at the top of this page, and for important changes we also tell you in the app.
